The Coalition for Women Human Rights Defenders trained 20 Women Human Rights Defenders from the nothern and central zone area of its operation on documenting, reporting, and monitoring of incidents of gender based violence related to election. Coalition tends to build the capacities of its members to enhance their capacities in so many ways. After the training, WHRDs they will be able to document incidents of GBV and share with the Secretariat for advocacy purpose. In 2020, the Coalition documented 11 cases of violence against women in politics, especially in elections. The outcomes of documentation supported the coalition to conduct evidence based advocacy, which also supports the inclusions of GBV offences as one of the political offences in the Tanzanian election law amended in January 2024. Coalition believes that knowledge investment for WHRDs is vital for personal and societal narrative changes.
