Coalition launches 5-yr strategic plan to protect women and girls

The Coalition for Women Human Rights Defenders Tanzania (CWHRDs) has launched a five-year strategic plan to protect women and girls from abuse. The aim of this strategic plan is to create a resilience and robust movement and safer working environment for women human rights defenders of Tanzania. Says National Coordinator of the Coalition of Women Human Rights Defenders Tanzania Hilda Dadu during the launching of Strategic Plan. The launched plan is themed: “Enhance safer working environment for WHRDs to ensure women and girls’ rights are protected.” “We hope stakeholders from different sectors across the country will support the coalition technically and financially so that we can protect and promote human rights in Tanzania,” she said. The Coalition for Women Human Rights Defenders is a newly formed organization whose aim is to defend women human rights defenders in Tanzania. The launching ceremony involved participants from UN Women, Legal and human Rights Center (LHRC), Commission for Human Rights and Good Governance (CRAGG), Gender Climate Change Tanzania Coalition (GCCTC), Defend Defenders, UN-Office of Higher Commission for Human Rights Eastern Africa Regional Office OHCHR-EARO, Freedom House, CSOs and Women Rights Organization
