Reflection of the 25 years of the UN Declaration on Human Rights Defenders

In a reflection of the 25th of the UN Declaration of Human Rights Defenders side lined in the NGOs Forum and the 77th ACPHR Ordinary Session taking place in Arusha Tanzania, the National Coordinator of Coalition for WHRDs Tanzania Ms Hilda Dadu participated as a panelist to the dialogue. Ms Hilda provided a sentiment on the archievement and the gaps/challenges of the Declaration. Among other issues that the Declaration has brought; the road map on the protection of human rights defenders which has also paved a way to the UN Declaration of 2018 that focuses on protection of Women Human Rights Defenders, the Declaration that put obligations to the National Human Rights Institutions (NHRI) to provides protection mechanism to Human Rights Defenders. On the other hand, the dualist system of adopting the UN Declarations and resolutions is still a challenge to the implementations of these resolutions. Again, there is still low understanding of the international and regional mechanism that promote and protect human Rights Defenders and Human Rights among women human rights defenders. @cwhrdstz Is delighted to participate in this reflection dialogue which was organized by our sister organization @thrdcoalition today at Mount Meru Hotel, Arusha.
